Our Story
After nearly seven years assisting local businesses to become more inclusive of people with disabilities, the Delaware Business Leadership Network has changed its name to Disability:IN Delaware. The new name symbolizes its commitment to creating an economy where people with disabilities participate fully and meaningfully.
The name change is the result of national re-branding efforts led by the United States Business Leadership Network; now known as Disability:IN. By supporting the unified brand and new organization identities, more than forty Disability:IN affiliates throughout the country reaffirmed their commitment to improving employment opportunities for people with disabilities in the workforce, supply chain, and marketplace.
According to a recently published four-year study, creating an inclusive workforce has powerful effects on profitability, revenue and shareholder returns. Corporations with well-designed procedures for recruitment, opportunities for career advancement and effective workplace accommodations averaged 28% higher revenue, twice the net income and 30% higher profit margins over their peers. In addition to revenue, the study revealed several additional benefits of creating an inclusive workforce that include: increased innovation, improved productivity, improved market share, access to supply chain resources and enhanced reputations.
Disability:IN Delaware is a 501(c)(3) comprised of local corporate leaders working collaboratively to improve employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Members share resources, host educational events, promote best practices and raise awareness. The agency connects corporations to talented people seeking employment and links disability-owned companies with businesses seeking to boost supply chain resources.
